Although a frozen sump pump can be an inconvenience, there are ways to resolve the issue. With the Freeze Relief Kit from Crawl Space DIY, we can relieve your sump pump line.
How Does The Freeze Relief Work?
The sump pump is the heart of any home waterproofing system. If your device fails to work, your basement may flood. Unfortunately, your discharge lines are exposed to DIY Winter Tips. These lines can often freeze, or become clogged up with snow and ice at the street. Such clogging will prevent water from moving and prevent proper discharge. The pump won’t be able to lower the water in the sump basin and will run continuously. The result is the basement or crawl space flooding if the pump burns out.
With the Freeze Relief Kit, you can prevent frozen lines. Our unique product allows water to discharge from the line even in the event of a blockage. Furthermore, our sump pump antifreeze device automatically releases the backed up water flow. This auto discharge will return the water flow to normal once the blockage has thawed or been removed.

It was easy to install and fit well. I honestly hope it never has to serve its purpose, because I installed it when I put in a whole new sump pump discharge line – all 130 ft. of it. The previous homeowner used 1 1/2 in. pipe for the line and I upsized the line to 4 in. If for some reason the new line does freeze, this freeze relief item is there as backup.
